On October 25, 2003 Howell sponsored the 9th annual Graveyard Classic.
The Graveyard Classic was sponsored by the Howell Predator Wrestling Club and the Howell High School Wrestling Booster Club. The Shore Thing Wrestling Club won the first Club/Team Trophy for having the most place finishers in the top three from both the High School and Middle School Divisions. The award is named after the late Charles Perez, Jr. who served as the head wrestling official for this tournament for the previous eight years. The Graveyard Classic staff certainly missed Charlie during the tournament.
Thank you to all those who wrestled, attended, and worked during the event to again make the Graveyard Classic one of the most competitive preseason tournaments!!! Select these links to see the Middle School Results and the High School Results.

On Sunday October 19th, 2003 we held the 1st annual Charlie Perez memorial benefit dinner. This yearly banquet was given by our Wrestling Community in remembrance of Charlie Perez, and to honor area wrestlers for their dedication to the sport. Their respective coaches nominated a wrestler from each Monmouth and Middlesex County high school as the recipient of the Charlie Perez Wrestling Award. All nominated award winners were our guest at the banquet, and are eligible for a scholarship that will be presented to one wrestler in each county in honor of Charlie. All proceeds from this banquet went towards an Education Trust for Charlie’s two children and these two wrestling scholarships. We had a great wrestling clinic the week of October 20th through October 24th, 2003. The clinic featured top ranked Kerry McCoy as well as Mike New, Vin Santaniello, Dan O'Cone, and Todd Palmisano. Many wrestlers prepared for the Graveyard classic by signing up and taking part.
