2004-2005 Season Results
& Team Pictures
The 2004-2005 season is off to an excellent start! The season opened with the Danbury and Hazlet traveling tournaments on 12/4 & 12/5. Howell I took second place at Danbury, and Howell II had a good day at the Hazlet Tournament.
The first JSJWL match ups were on 12/11 against Hazlet & Old bridge. The two time JSJWL champion Howell I squad took both matches to start the JSJWL season at 2-0. On 12/12, the Howell I traveling team participated in the 3rd annual Robbinsville team duals placing third.
The Predators finished out the 2004 calendar year nicely with 2 more JSJWL wins over Ocean and Tinton falls on 12/18, and taking first at the 2ed annual Nutley team duals on 12/19. The Howell I JSJWL record is now 4-0, and with the Howell II team beating Ocean on 12/18 as well, are now 1-3.
The JSWL match against BYAA I & II on 1/8 resulted in both Howell I and Howell II having split results. Howell I lost to BYAA I, but beat BYAA II to move their record to 5-1. Howell II lost to BYAA I, but also beat BYAA II, moving their record to 2-4. The Howell I loss marked the end of a long standing winning streak. The Howell I squad had not lost a JSJWL match since December of 2003! That is a great testament to both the wrestlers and the coaching.
On 1/15, Howell took on the tough Brick squad. Howell I lost to Brick 1, but beat Brick II to bring it's record to 6-2. Howell II lost both matches to bring their record to 2-6. On 1/16, many Howell wrestlers competed at the brick mat Rat and Lacey tournaments. Congratulations to all that placed at those tournaments.
On 1/22 the Predators wrestled against Long Branch and Matawan. The Howell I squad beat both those teams, taking their record to 8-2. Howell II beat Matawan but lost against Long Branch, taking their record to 3-7. On 2/5, both Howell I and II won both their matches against Wall and Shore. That brought Howell I to 10-2, and Howell II to 5-7.
The regular season ended with two difficult losses to strong JSJWL rivals. On 2/7, both Howell I an Howell II lost to the tough Toms River squad, bringing the records to 10-3 and 5-8, respectively. On 2/8, both Howell squads lost to the very talented Jackson team. The final records were 11-4 for Howell I, and 5-10 for Howell II.
Howell I missed making the JSJWL A division team playoff this year, however, Howell II earned playoff eligibility for the JSJWL B division, and took second place in the finals. Congratulations to the Howell II squad and coaches, as well as to all the Howell I wrestlers who gave it their all this season!!
